When Julie Strain was Luxura!

The first official model for Luxura was the unforgettable Julie Strain. I had the good fortune of meeting Julie and hired to portray Luxura for a photo shoot and short video about the project. The costume was created by Michael Bush based on my original designs.

The photos were featured on several of the comic and magazine covers as well as several trading cards. It was amazing to see Luxura come to life like this. I plan to do this again in the future and hopefully take it to another level!

The following is from her official bio: Julie Strain is an American actress and model who has come to be known as the "Queen of the B-movies". She has over one hundred films to her credit. In addition, she was Penthouse Pet of the Month for June 1991, and Penthouse Pet of the Year for 1993. She has also had her likeness attached to numerous comic book characters and animation items. For example, she did the voice acting for the main character in the animation movie Heavy Metal 2000 and was the basis for the third person shooter Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K.².

Strain, who stands 6'1" (1.85m), is married to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman. Eastman is also the Editor in Chief of Heavy Metal magazine. Julie often appears in the magazine in photos or pictures painted by her close friends Olivia De Berardinis and Simon Bisley. Strain is also the focus of Immanuel Sebastian's obsession in Gilad Elbom's book Scream Queens of the Dead Sea. In addition, she played a role of herself in the 2001 television movie How to Make a Monster. She also became very popular for performing in the program Sex Court on Playboy TV.
